Hello there! If you are new here, you might want to subscribe to the RSS feed for updates on this topic.

Now you can perform Manymoon functions like assigning tasks and creating projects within Gmail! Using Google’s innovative Contextual Gadget framework, Manymoon can automatically use important content and contacts from within the email in your tasks and projects. As always, you have full control over what is shared and with whom. This is a great way to follow-up on emails and never lose track of important work items.

The Gmail Gadget is available for Google Apps users, making your emails more actionable! Watch this quick demo to see how it works.

For example, you might receive an email that requires you to do something at the end of the week. The Manymoon Gmail gadget automatically populates the task for you with the email’s Subject:, To: From: and Cc: people, Google Docs and links. Just give the task a due date of Friday and click ‘Create’. The email, and its associated Google Docs, are now a task for you. Manymoon will send you a reminder the day before the due date.

Our existing Manymoon gadget has been updated to include even more project capabilities that allow you to create, view, comment on and complete tasks and projects within any Google Sites or iGoogle page.

We’re thrilled to be able to make it even easier to use Manymoon within the Google Apps you already love. We hope this helps you simplify your work life and makes email more productive for you and your team!

We’re presenting at the Google I/O event tomorrow and will be sharing more information on the Gmail Contextual Gadget. Also, stop by our stand at the Developers Sandbox–we’d love to meet you and answer any questions.

UPDATE 1: Customers who want to use the Manymoon Gmail Gadget *and* installed Manymoon before May 18, 2010 should follow this procedure.

Hi! Do you plan to make this feature available for non google apps users (just for standard gmail account users)? This would heavily improve task management without constant switching between Manymoon and Gmail.

I use gmail and don’t need to start using google apps and would like to stay it this way. I would also like to use this new feature.

  • mic

I checked my Google Apps email but its not there. How do I install this feature?

  • Jorge

Please, could you publish how to activate this feature or tell where are the instructions?

  • http://www.shoppingstand.com Ramin

Well the feature was there for us last night, but now it’s gone. Any idea how we get it back…it’s a big time saver.

This gadget is fantastic! If you could trim off the last one or two line breaks after the buttons, that would be fantastic. It takes up a little bit too much real estate for our liking, but it is great.

  • Ryan

I would like only some people in my domain to use this. Is there a way to selectively enable this?

  • Michael

How can I enable this feature? Is there a way to enable it across our google apps domain?

  • John

Looks great. Is this feature live? Nothing has changed for my domain.

  • David

Why advertise an app with no instructions on how to install???

  • dave

Add me to the group that is “titillated, confused, and unsatisfied” :) Sounds great but how do I find/get it??

  • Frans

Love it! It just was there in my emails from one day to the other. The only thing I had to do was click a link to give manymoon access to my “username” in Google apps.
A thing which would be nice though (yes we always want more of this excellent product) that if creating a task or project from an email the user would get the opportunity to have the email automatically converted into a google doc and attached to the task. But hey, just keep on going like this, you are far ahead of the competition!

    Lillith–
As of now, Google has made Contextual Gadgets available only to Google Apps users–those who installed through the Google Marketplace. http://www.google.com/enterprise/marketplace/viewListing?productListingId=3539+9922984539899306906&hp=mostInstalled

You could move your domain or create a new domain with Google Apps. Here’s the link to Google Apps for Domains Standard: http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/group/index.html

It costs nothing to move an existing domain; if you’d like to add a domain, the cost is $10/year.

We, like you, hope this feature is available for all Gmail users soon!

    Hope this helps.

  • David

I installed from Marketplace prior to the May 19th date.

Tried to follow the special instructions at http://bit.ly/ajQZ4s but it is still not working. The gadget does not appear to domain users even after logging out and back in.

    Is anyone else having problems.

My Manymoon settings in control panel are pasted below and it appears to indicate the gadgets are installed.

Any thoughts on how to resolve?

    Update:

Gadgets are now working. Logging out and back in was not enough. A complete restart of the browser (Firefox) seems to have resolved the issue and the gadget now is working (maybe something to do with cookies or cache etc) or perhaps there is a time lag for it to begin working.

    Update 2:

Well, the gadget appears but it will not launch and indicates that I need to enable SSO. When I go to do so in domain manager it requires a variety of items to be configured. Googles help link only explains the concept of SSO (that i understand) but does not provide step by step (or any) information on how to actually config SSO to work.

Can someone please point me to a step by step guide on how to configure SSO within Google apps?

question is where do find the gadget for download for Gmail?

  • Martin

    Hi,

We would love to have a simple and user friendly App for mobile, BlackBerry. Just for quick and simple operations, such as keeping track of the proyect and adding new tasks with basic config. Using the web platform with Blackberry browser is a mess.

    thanks!

Had no major problem installing this gadget into my domain. And it looks pretty good. But two questions – both of which reflect my bias to try and do absolutely everything inside gmail.

    1. I can see how to easily turn an existing email into a task. But let’s say I want to create a new task for someone else – without an existing email (I just dreamed up the work to be done). How would I use the gadget to do that? Or is that not possible.

    2. Once a task has been created, can I complete that task by clicking on something in the email? For example, is the gadget able to recognize what “state” things are in – and, if this email represents a task that has already been created, the gadget should no longer display “create task” but rather “mark task as complete”.

Finally, seems like there has been some complaint about having the gadget show up on for all users and on every email. Can you have it show up only if there is specific text in the body, or some other trigger? Then it would only show up where it is needed and users that don’t use the system won’t see it at all (getting you out of the situation where Google doesn’t let the app be activated selectively for particular users). Just a thought….

    Thanks!

This is great but how could I assign this to an already existing project or task
