Hello there! If you are new here, you might want to subscribe to the RSS feed for updates on this topic.

Sharing documents is a fundamental part of working in groups, large or small.  Most people in the workplace still share documents through email, which can be a hassle.  It’s easy to lose track of which version different people are using and it’s difficult to access your files when you’re away from your computer.

Today we are making file sharing and collaboration easier with the ability to upload any file to Google Docs directly from Manymoon.  Now you can upload and store any type of file to Google Docs right from your team space on Manymoon.  Using Manymoon, you can seamlessly attach these files to your online tasks, projects and events.  For example, in addition to documents you might have pictures (.jpg files), diagrams (.png files) and custom files (.psd, .dwg, etc) that are part of your project.  You can now use Google Docs as your consolidated file storage for the entire project!

Your storage quota is managed in Google Docs which allows you to focus on getting work done instead of worrying about how many files are being attached to the project.

To get started, create a project or task in Manymoon, invite your collaborators and attach any files from your computer. You now have the option to store the files in Google Docs:

Manymoon manages file permissions and automatically shares files only with people who have access to that task, project or event.  You can access these files, along with the rest of your Google Docs, from within Manymoon.  You can also scan a list of the files you’ve uploaded and easily see which tasks and projects they’re associated with in Manymoon:

We hope you enjoy this new integration of Google Docs and Manymoon. As always, we’d love your feedback!

When I created a sample project, I got the following warning from Google:

“This website has not registered with Google to establish a secure connection for authorization requests. We recommend that you continue the process only if you trust the following destination:

That doesn’t give me a lot of warm fuzzies….

  • http://www.manymoon.com Manymoon

Victor – that message is Google’s standard security warning and there’s no way around it.

A couple of points about security though:

    * Manymoon does not store any of your Google data (e.g., Google Docs, Google Calendar events, Google username/password). All of that is stored and managed by Google. Manymoon only reads it for use within the application.

    * We have a large number of businesses using Manymoon everyday to integrate Google Apps into projects and tasks. You can read some case studies (https://www.manymoon.com/misc/help?goto=caseStudy) and customer reviews in the Google Solutions Marketplace.

  • Victor

Hmm — Google’s warning implies that you could have established a more secure connection, but chose not to. I doubt they would ever change it, but maybe as part of the file upload you could tell Manymoon users to expect (and disregard) the message.

Doesn’t manymoon create accounts for each Google Apps account? If we delete an account from Google, how can we delete it from ManyMoon?

Just getting started with Manymoon, but I have a suggestion to improve integration with Google Docs – allow us to upload a document to Gdocs via Manymoon and also to select which folder that document lands in. This is important for my small business where we need to keep a large number of documents carefully filed on Google docs. Currently, I have to go to gdocs and sort the destination of the file that has just been uploaded – a two-step process where it need not be.

I was trying to upload a document into google apps, and was hoping to see that the tags I applied were carried through to google apps, but I got an error message saying I needed google apps premier edition – I was using the education edition – any reason why that’s different?

    Otherwise, impressive integration!

    Hi A–
    Apologies for our delayed response.
With Manymoon you have the ability to either create a new Google doc new Manymoon, or add existing Google Docs to Manymoon.

Alternatively, you can save your PDF to Manymoon and it will be accessible from the Documents tab at left.

Here’s more info on Google Docs in Manymoon: https://manymoon.com/misc/help?goto=faq#gDocs

    Hope this helps.

Agree with this. It would also be great if integration was offered for Google Sites in the same way.

  • http://spirityoga.de brian

my google account is logged in as bk@spirityoga.de –> I access the site with http://www.google.com/a/spirityoga.de
I am NOT bk@googlemail.de, etc, which is what the log in seems to want me to type in
I cant access the google docs with my log in: it keeps saying it is wrong. My guess is that it has to do with this work-around that i have to get me to my business account.
what can I do to get google doc access??
    thanks

We’re using Manymoons for Project Management with people outside our company and have linked this to our Google Apps Premier account. When I upload a file connected to a task the file uploads and I can see it (I guess because I’m logged into our Google Apps account). When team members click on the document that was uploaded, they are directed to our company Google Apps log-in page and asked to provide log-in credentials. I thought Manymoons was supposed to grant permissions automatically. I’ve tried every setting I could think of, and have worked inside and out of our Google Apps account. No luck. Anyone having similar problems or have ideas?

I could upload the documents to Manymoon, but this defeats the purpose of the Google Docs Integration.

  • Tim

Long hard grind to get Google Docs sharing to work with our Manymoon Account. Not sure if our use of Google Apps is complicating the process, but when we share documents stored in Google Docs with team members outside of our office, they are ultimately led to a our Google Apps log-in screen (we cannot grant access to this secure environment). To work around this and keep our projects going, we’ve had to abandon the link to Google Docs and upload directly into Manymoon. This kills the integration we were looking for (we now upload to two places). MM team is working on this, but I’m curious if we’re alone experiencing this problem. Anyone else having problems?
