Hello there! If you are new here, you might want to subscribe to the RSS feed for updates on this topic.

One of the benefits of Manymoon is how it dramatically reduces the amount of emails in your inbox. But email is still used for notifications such as newly assigned tasks, shared links, status updates and invitations to projects.

We have updated Manymoon notifications so that email replies will automatically be stored in that task, link, project or bulletin. This is a great way to make sure that email conversations aren’t lost but instead tracked and organized in Manymoon.

The feature is simple, and automatic, to use.  It also works with any email application (Outlook, Google, Lotus, etc).

First do something like create a project in Manymoon and invite members.

Project members automatically receive an email from Manymoon.  You can also decide not to have Manymoon send an email notification if you like.

Project members can reply to this email however they like.  They still have all the flexibility that their email provides (e.g., Cc: people).

Each project member’s reply is automatically captured in the Project Bulletin!

This feature gives people the flexibility to continue using email if they like, but allows you to capture and share that valuable information in Manymoon instead of losing track of it in email inboxes. Every email reply now has context since it can now be associated with a task, project, status update or link in Manymoon.

Let us know what you think and thanks for using Manymoon!

Great feature, but make it work like BasecampHQ where you respond “above the line”. It eliminates the rest of the body of the email from being published too. Currently I have to remind my clients to click reply, then delete the contents of the email before typing their response and sending.

Would also be nice to have the option to change the name to our Team’s Name rather than having the email go out from Manymoon. It will take a little extra education with my clients to eliminate confusion.

Yes, I agree with Paul. If both the above were implemented, this addition would be perfect.

Off topic… Would be nice to have a host header assigned to the login so Manymoon was completely hidden. Then I could set http://projects.mydomain.com to Manymoon. I currenly have a CNAME setup so my clients don’t have to remember Manymoon, but a CNAME is just an alias, and the URL in the browser shows Manymoon anyway.

I further echo Michael’s request for a host header. Anything that Manymoon can do to integrate into my world will reduce client confusion, increase effectiveness, further seal the long term deal between me and Manymoon and make me even more of a proponent of the the product to other SMB Owners.

I have more ideas when Manymoon is ready… Just contact me and I’ll be a very happy Beta test subject!

We made two of the changes you requested.

Paul – Manymoon email notifications are now displayed in your inbox with the sender’s name (not ‘Manymoon’). We’ll make this configurable at some point so you’ll have some flexibility and can use your organization’s name.

Mike – when someone responds to a Manymoon email notification, the application now captures the reply and not the entire body.

Hope this helps and thanks for the feedback!

    Hi,

I am a Virtual Assistant and see using this for project management for my clients as well as for my team.

How I’ve been managing my projects within Basecamp is clients would use the Message Forum to let me know of new tasks or to send me an email about anything. I would then either respond or add that as a task and assign to team members.

I see your response in people can now respond to email notifications and that will be captured within Manymoon. I’m wondering if you anticipate creating a message forum or blog within the Manymoon portal as a new feature in the future?

This could also be used by coaches…

Both virtual assistants and coaches are a big market. Something to think about.

I’ve signed up for an account with my Google Apps and will “play” to see if this can be used by us. But the message forum or “blog” would be a wonderful element!

When I set a task for myself to do, I don’t get an email. So I can’t ad comments to that task by email. It would be useful to be able to send email updates to tasks that I set up myself. Is the email associated with the task available some other way?

  • Michelle

I can relate to Ray. I use Manymoon and often have to cut and paste associated emails to my task bulletin or comments. It would be great if I could attach the gmail conversation thread like I would a google doc. Then I know that the entire thread is connected. That would certainly save me some time.

I’m with Ray and Michelle on establishing the email trail from the outset, even if it is from myself. Would a simple radio button with this option be possible?

Or, is it possible to associate the Task with the Subject Header?

I like what you guys have done so far.

  • Ray

We’re thinking of using ManyMoon and one of the important features you guys have is email commenting.

When I tried this feature out, I kept getting the email reply in the comment. The only way to remove the reply in the comment is to remove the entire body of the email when I reply.

I’m using Thunderbird 2.0.0.23 if that helps.

    Can I do the following…

    1) Start a new Project by sending an email?

    2) Add a task to an existing Project without having to reply to a note that is sent out by the project to begin with?

    3) If I do have a note for a particular task that is started, can I use the same return address again and again to add to that particular task or project?

I currently am a teamworklive user, looking into manymoon. Teamworklive has an excellent implementation of this feature; not only can you send an email into the app, but you can put tags in the subject line to assign it to a project, person, due date, etc. Very nice. The way teamworklive integrates email is the number one reason I have stuck with them for so long (4 years now). If manymoon had the same functionality, I’d seriously consider the switch.

Lol, this is one of my favorite blogs. Keep up the good work :-)

  • Akil

Does Manymoon allow you to organize your uploaded files in a directory tree like structure?

  • Fernando

    Hi all,
Currently looking into this app as well. Was wondering if there was any news on Ray and Michelle’s queries above, re: emailing to comment from an alternate entrypoint, rather than by responding to the initial invite email?

  • James

Capturing the reply only is a double edged sword, because many (particularly management level) like to make those inline (below the line)comments in the original email, then hit reply. I’ve found it very difficult to alter this habit/style encountered with multiple clients using collaboration platforms that attempt to integrate email.

Suggest config option to capture response or response and one previous. Alternatively if the response content is blank then capture the previous.

Understand this is problematic and solution not simple. “One size does not fit all”.

One thing I’d like to have in Manymoon is an option to e-mail members (a specific member or all members) of a project outside of a task (e.g., I want all tasks under a project to be updated by members, etc.).

    Please consider.

    Thank you.

I’m looking to include an email in a project’s comments, but cannot find the the email address I need to ‘cc’.

Basecamp has it on the bottom of every project page. That would be very useful.

  • bbrenman

Hi, you can add people to projects by simply clicking on Add Member while you are in the project. This will then invite the person to the project so they can see the associated tasks and files. Hope that helps.

How do you originate an email to Bulletin/Activity? One can currently reply… but what about originate? I.e. does Bulletin/Activity have an email address (like tasks do)? We want subversion code commits to be cc’ed to the activity log. This would be a simple and powerful way to integrate Manymoon with external workflows/tools!

  • Marc Johnson

    Anyone?
